Meditation...is it for you? Why not dedicate some time each day out of your busy life schedule just for you? Some time to find inner peace, tranquillity, and introspection. Some time and place where you can unravel your life's decisions and bring calmness into your surroundings. Tune out to the everyday pressures and worries and learn to tune in and center yourself. So how do you meditate? First you need to make the mental and physical commitment to the meditation. Quite time, no distractions, and no driving. Is the phone off the hook? Are you in a place where you can sit quietly without being disturbed? Find a special room in your house, somewhere where you can dim the lights and is not too hot or too cool. You can sit either on a chair, on cushions on the floor, or lying down in bed. Although lying in bed may make it hard to stay awake if you're just starting out and new to meditation. But give it a try and start with five minutes at a time. You can even meditate during your lunch break at work, in your office, conference room... so long as it's quiet and you'll be undisturbed for at least 5 minutes. There really is no wrong or right way to do this ancient practice. Just do what feels comfortable for you. Meditation...what do you think about while you're doing it? That's the beauty of a meditation...you don't have to think anything! These guided meditations allow you to get in touch with your inner self and listen to your body in a way that you may have never considered. Each meditation has some quite reflection time. Try to sit and reflect upon the meditation and if thoughts pop into your head - as they sometimes do - acknowledge them and then simply push them aside. It gets easier and thoughts will eventually stop popping in unannounced! You can find more tips on how to meditate on the Free Attunements, Healing Techniques and Meditation ebooks page, www.passion4living.org/gpm.
